America Needs More Physician Owned Hospitals
Patients and physicians are fed up with out-of-date, dangerous, uncaring hospitals that present the worst in modern health care. Physician hospitals came to fruition to address exactly those concerns. They employ the best patient care models, such as low nurse to patient ratios that allow nurses to actually take care of their patients, a model that should be emulated across the country. Physician owned hospitals are also some of the most technologically advanced facilities in the country, bringing the best of modern medicine to their patients. In addition, physicians are working to guarantee continued access in rural and inner city areas... areas that are otherwise being disregarded by many of the large system providers not owned by physicians.
While physician-owned specialty hospitals represent a much-needed step forward in providing better health care for specific conditions, treatments and procedures, the trend towards more physician-owned general hospitals presents the greatest future hope for patients and caring physicians alike. The data is overwhelming, physician-owned health care provides better, more patent-centric care. Physician-controlled hospitals will benefit seniors the most, and we need more of them everywhere across our great nation.
